Timber flooring is real wood underfoot. Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of an Australian species such as spotted gum, blackbutt or ironbark. Engineered timber uses a real hardwood wear layer bonded to a stable plywood or HDF core, so it copes better with Brisbane heat and humidity.
Finish is part of the spec. Pre-finished boards arrive with a factory UV-cured coat, ready to live on. Site-finished timber is sanded and coated in the home, so stain and sheen can be matched to the joinery.

Why timber in Brisbane

Engineered timber
A real hardwood wear layer on a stable plywood or HDF core. Wider planks, often pre-finished, and the usual recommendation for Brisbane slabs and subtropical humidity. Compare species at Bundall or Byron rather than a 10cm sample on a phone.
Solid hardwood
Where the subfloor, moisture and climate suit it. Australian species such as spotted gum, blackbutt and ironbark, milled from a single piece and able to be sanded and refinished through the life of the house.
Herringbone timber
Real timber, laid in a classic European pattern. A statement floor for living rooms and prestige homes. Specialist install, planned after we have seen the room.
